Microsoft designed the Key Management Service (KMS) for large organizations. Instead of typing 25 different product keys for 25 different computers, a company sets up a local KMS host server. All client computers within the network activate against that internal server.

Most antivirus programs (Windows Defender, Norton, McAfee) will immediately quarantine KMS-based tools because they detect "HackTool:Win32/AutoKMS." You must disable real-time protection before extracting the file.

If you need Windows or Office, either pay for them, use the free web versions, or switch to open-source alternatives. The $150 for a legitimate Office license is a fraction of what you will pay an IT professional to remove ransomware that came from a fake "activator."

Unlike KMS-based tools, HWIDGEN (Hardware ID) generates a genuine digital license tied to your motherboard. It is considered more "permanent" but does not support Office activation.
